The commercial super strong toxic cleaner you can buy these days certainly does the job.  It also does a great job polluting the planet.

Try this instead:

1. Pour one cup of baking soda down the drain.

2. Slowly pour one cup of white vinegar down the drain.

3. Let the foaming mixture sit for about 30 minutes.

4. Add some lemon juice to about 3 litres of water and slowly pour to rinse the drain.
